Jan 16th Monday - God's Will: One Thing For Sure 1 Peter 2:15

We are often seeking after God's will. We ask, "What is your will God?" "How can I know what to do?"

Well, one thing for sure is God's will in 1Peter 2:15

For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.

Doing good; what does this mean for me today? How do I apply this to my life?
Let's see what the rest of 1Peter 2 has to say:

Submit to every authority instituted among men
Live as free men
Do not use freedom aa a cover-up for evil
Live as servants of God
Show proper respect to everyone
Love the brotherhood of believers
Fear God
Honor the king
Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect....also to those who are harsh
Suffer for doing good (and endure it), this is commendable before God...to this you were called, to follow in Jesus' steps (more about this in tomorrow's devotion)
Entrust yourself to him who judges justly

Again, Jesus did all these things in honor to His Father.
If we are to WAJD, should we do anything less?

i love that statement.."dont use freedom as a cover for evil"....it's kinda sad that that's exactly what's goin right now(ie. new marriage definition etc)...especially with the elections.

Yes, it is also tempting for us to get lazy about seeking purity. While grace does cover us we should not use grace as a cover for sin. Our desire should be purity but not in a legalistic way, but because we love the Father so much.

Yeah, and one of my favourites related to this comes from Phil 2:12,13 --

"...continue to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose."

If we will commit to purity, if we will commit to being devoted (regardless of how many times we stumble or fall), it would appear to me that the pursuit of Him who is greater will work in us to becoming more like Christ.

I agree with you that we can very quickly become lazy, and that it is very possible to trample on grace. Yet I am becoming more convinced of the all-surpassing power of this grace to bring us about so that our minds will renew (through the washing of the Word), and our hearts will WANT to act according to the longings of our spirits within.

Thanks for the invite...not sure I can make this daily, bro...but willing to try.
